No Preservatives Added is a blog about making the transition from a unhealthy lifestyle to a healthy one. It chronicles the ups and downs and sometimes insane events spurring from a dramatic life change of one family.
My name is Rachel, and my husband is Rob. We are a young family with a new baby girl born June 26, 2010. The decision to change our eating habits occured when we came to a realization of how much better our lives could be if we took that step. It was an emotional moment, and the catalyst for change was unstoppable.
The very next day, we went to the grocery store and examined every single food label. We didn’t want any preservatives entering our body. We wanted real food. As I stood there in the grocery aisle, agonizing over the loss of what constituted my entire diet, I knew it would be hard. But I desperately wanted my life back, and the desire for change spurred us on.
Prior to this decision, our diet was standard American. Thus, my pantry was filled with items like Ragu sauce, Ramen Noodles, Chicken Noodle Soup, white pasta, drink mixes, corn flakes, taco seasoning and gravy. I decided the best way to start fresh on this new journey was to throw everything out. And so I did just that!
We aren’t experts on nutrition and are learning this new lifestyle as we go. We’ll make mistakes, we’ll celebrate discoveries, but most importantly, we’ll get a part of our life back by fueling our bodies the right way, enabling us to live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives.
Welcome to No Preservatives Added! I look forward to sharing with you in this journey!
